Worship Meets Our Deepest Needs

Worldly materialism deceives us. It shows us that the only way to real happiness, success, and fulfillment is to have everything we want go our way.

A high-paying job, an extravagant house, a new car, and the grandest family holiday seduce us into thinking that they are the most important aspects of life.

In truth, however, even if we acquire and experience all of these temporary things, our lives would still feel empty and incomplete.

This is because satisfying the longings of our souls with selfish pleasures will only make the lusts more intense.

Jesus said in John 4:13 to 14 that “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Only Jesus can satisfy the deepest needs of the heart and soul. The Lord knows that we are broken. He is aware of our hopes and dreams.

When we worship Him, when we make Him the center of our hearts’ desire, our ultimate needs are met. For in that moment, nothing is more important than what is actually happening.

Relationship issues, health problems, and financial worries are still there, but with the love of Christ welling in our hearts everything starts to feel so easy. Loads are lifted, burdens become light.

Worship is not only about singing, dancing, and playing music in church. It is a lifestyle. In whatever we do and wherever we are, whether at home, school, work, or church, if we do everything for God’s praise, then we worship Him. And all our thirsts are completely quenched.
