“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6
Our relationship with God through Jesus Christ is largely determined by our faith. When we come to Him, we must believe that He exists and that He is exactly who He has revealed Himself to be in Scriptures.

WITHOUT FAITH WE CANNOT PLEASE GOD

We must also believe that He will respond to us when we earnestly seek Him. Without this kind of faith, we cannot please God. Regardless of the morality of our life, the good works we perform, the words we speak, or the sacrifices we make for His sake, if we do not have faith, we will not please Him.

DON’T SUBSTITUTE RELIGIOUS ACTIVITY FOR FAITH IN GOD

It can be tempting to substitute religious activity for faith in God. Our generation is preoccupied with methods. We spend much energy looking for spiritual disciplines, books, seminars, or conferences that “work” for us in order to feel satisfied with our Christian life. Some Christians come to a point where they already look on the minister God gave them, basing their ministry on the person concerned, rather than looking at God directly and doing service for Him, glorifying Him.

God does not want us to trust in methods and in people. He wants us to trust in Him.

LOVING GOD AND PLEASING HIM ARE MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE

We may say, “I love God, but I just have difficulty trusting Him.” Then we are not pleasing Him. We cannot struggle at the core of our relationship with God and still enjoy a vibrant fellowship with Him! Faith does not eliminate problems. Faith keeps us in a trusting relationship with God in the midst of our problems. Faith has to do with our relationship with God, not our circumstances.

Final Notes:

Some may say, “I’m not much of a person of faith. I am more of a practical person!” Yet we will never do anything more practical than to place our trust in the Lord. Nothing is more secure or certain than that which we entrust to God.

He never fails.
