Many times we
Christians are misunderstood, misinterpreted, and misjudged.
Some even make fun
of us, especially when we share about God’s Word and what God is doing in our
lives.
Others simply
reject anything we say about the Lord. They think we are out of our minds or
we’re too obsessed about religion.
Obviously, they don’t understand.
The best way to handle
these situations is to stay quiet.
We should never try
to “out-argue” someone when it comes to our faith and spirituality. The truth
of God is within us, and we should never be intimidated or frustrated by those
who do not accept them.
There were times
when people may disagree with us regarding God’s Word. Sometimes someone may
question the way we hear from God, or challenge our faith in Him.
In times like these
it is never helpful to argue. We can never debate anyone into the kingdom of God .
We can never persuade someone that God
wanted us to reach by outarguing them!
Only God can
convince and touch the hearts of others to accept His Word that we only
deliver.
If our motivation
for arguing comes from our desire to be right, or to be vindicated, or to gain
the esteem of those listening, we are acting selfishly, and God will not honor us.
More importantly, it will not bring honor to God!
We bring honor to
God not by winning a dispute in His name, but we reflect a Christ-like
character when we demonstrate patience to those who mistreat us and
misunderstand our motives.
Arguing will never
win people to our view, but loving them as Christ does will win us many friends
over time!
“And the servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be
gentle to all, able to teach, patient.” – 2 Timothy 2:24
On a humorous note, have you seen the "8 reasons why I don't share my faith" video?

:) An entertaining reminder that we should always be ready to share our faith to others.
DeleteTo be honest, I don't get why a lot of Christians should feel this way. Of all religions, Christians outnumber every other. And 90% of the world population is theist. In my observation, it's the atheists who are judged a lot. People immediately think they, as a whole, are bad people.
ReplyDeleteI've seen more Christians judge non-christians even when they're staying quiet. Which is sad.
My theory is, if you push your beliefs on someone, whether it be religion or something else, you are bound to be rejected.
Yes, not all Christians are mature enough to keep from judging others and just loving others as Christ loves. That's really sad.
DeleteMy point there was when someone is provoking you into a debate about your beliefs, it's better to stay quiet than argue with them. Arguments never help.
