Power in Words

Post written by Raymund and Denielle Tamayo

Words are powerful than what we think it is - written or spoken.

The Bible says that life and death are in the power of the tongue and we will eat its fruit.

A single word can make the difference between liking or disliking someone.

We often hear that a destructive word hurts more than a strike, but a word of encouragement brings healing beyond the physical.

Here are some questions to meditate regarding our use of words:

  • Do you often regret your words?
  • Is there someone even now who is hurt by something you’ve said?
  • Do you enjoy gossip?
  • Do you tend to criticize?
  • Do you always grumble and complain?
  • Do you feel that you are not responsible for what you say when you are angry?
If you answer most with a yes, then it’s time to re-examine how you use words.

Be quick to speak words of life, blessing, and healing. When life gets tough and we start speaking negative words, problems get worse. Speak constructively. Circumstances may not change, but your perspective will.

Finally, always trust God and believe that He is powerful enough to provide for everything we need.

Arrow prayer: Father God, guide me in disciplining my mind and mouth so that every word I speak or write will encourage and edify others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
