"It’s not the depth of your intellect that will comfort you or transform your world. Only the richness of your heart and your generosity of spirit can do that." – Rasheed Ogunlaru
Generosity is not only about money. It is also about
contributing something positive to the world to make it a little bit better.
The great thing about this is when many people
contribute something positive, these small contributions can become huge. And what
if everyone did that?
Here are three important tips on how to contribute
positively to the world:
1.
Cultivate your strengths
Recognize with the things you’re good at and start
with them. Always develop your strengths. If you are good at something, for
example cooking, practice it daily and attend trainings and seminars that will
let you improve your craft even more. This is true for any other skill such as
writing, painting, sculpting, composing music, or computer programming.
You can contribute positively to the world primarily
through your natural skill sets and abilities. In doing what you love, you are
more effective and fulfilled by it. And the people around you, even the whole
world, can benefit from it.
2.
Find out your true calling
A calling is something that has to be discovered.
You can find traces of it by looking back at your own life. You should realize
that all that had transpired is not an accident and is preparing you to one day
accept what you are really called to do, and do it.
Your values are also one of the guides to discover
your calling. How aligned are these values in your life right now? Does your
life reflect these values in the way that you would have wanted? If the answers
to both questions are “no”, then it’s time to do something about it.
3.
Share generously
After you have learned to continuously cultivate
your strength and found out what is your true calling and contribution to the
world, share it generously. While it is of course perfectly okay to make money
out of your talents and abilities, putting money on top of your priorities may
not always be for the best.
Historically, people who have been generous with
their talents are actually more successful, wealthier, and more fulfilled. Look
at the list of the top wealthiest people in the world today. All of them did
not deny the world of what they can do and what they have done. They shared it
to the world, and they became ultra-successful because of it. For these people,
money is no longer the issue, but making the world a better place than when
they first saw it.
