“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
The moment we enter a personal relationship with
Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit starts to re-new us – our personality, our
behavior, our judgment – into becoming more like Christ.
The old things that we use to enjoy wouldn’t give us
pleasure anymore.
The first thing you will notice in a newly-“born”
Christian is his changed life. It is the very first sign that a person
sincerely accepted Jesus Christ in his life.
Otherwise, if there is no change, if he still does
the things that don’t give pleasure to God, he is only religious and
superficial.
The change can be gradual or abrupt, but it will
definitely be progressive.
God will never push Himself into us, that’s how
gentle He is! He has all the power to make us what He wants us to be in an
instant, but He still gives us our own free will. He wants us to love Him
because we really do and not because we are forced to.
The authentic testimony of a believer is his changed
life. Allow the Holy Spirit to work in your heart and to impress to you the
changes He made and is still making in you towards Christlikeness.
