“How long will you lie there doing nothing at all? When are you going to get up and stop sleeping?” Proverbs 6:9
The Book of Proverbs warns us about laziness. Chapter
6 verses 4 to 11 says that we can learn a thing or two from ants on being diligent
and productive. Ants store up food while they can to make their future secure. It
also says that lazy people just sleep and wait for better days.
When it comes to our finances, we ought to copy the
traits of these ants. We should save money to prepare for our future.
For many people, laziness is even more striking in
their spiritual lives than in the physical. They tend to put off their
spirituality and wait for better days, not knowing that no one knows the future
and suddenly they may find that it is already too late.
They tend to forget that we have spirits that also
needed to be nurtured and strengthened. A personal relationship with God
through Christ is the only way to make our spirits come alive and become healthy.
So, as the Bible warns us of physical laziness, let
us also be warned of spiritual laziness. Let us ask God to give us sustenance,
power, strength, and excitement to keep on growing spiritually every day.
