God’s presence in a person’s life brings
unexplainable peace and joy. Those who know God recognize His presence best.
Without really trying, we can quickly recognize the
presence of our loved ones. They are always close to us, literally crossing our
paths every day.
I, for one, can recognize my wife’s face from more
than a hundred feet away. I’m always aware where she is in a mass of people in
a “mega” mall. I know the sound of her voice, and the look on her face – what
she feels at that particular moment, what she wanted. I recognize her
handwriting. I can pick out her laugh in a crowd or even the scent of her
perfume.
It’s the same with God; His personality has also
many subtleties. The more familiar you become with Him, especially His work in
your life, the easier you will find it to recognize His work in others.
Because of knowing the truth that God has forgiven
us, pardoned us from guilt and sin, we can identify the look of someone at
peace with God. Because He has restored our dignity, we will be able to see His
glory in others. If He has delivered someone from an abusive past, we know how
a hardened face can be transformed by joy.
Do you want to have more of God’s presence in your
life? Get to know Him better. Pray. Read and study His Word. Meditate on it day
and night. And frequently be in the company of those who also love Him so.
