The Priority of Being Physically Healthy

Post written by Raymund and Denielle Tamayo

“When I stand before God at the end of my life I would hope that not one single bit of talent is left, and I could say, I had used everything You gave me.” - Erma Bombeck

One of the very top priorities of our family is being physically healthy.

We limit our intake of sweet, fatty, salty, and processed foods. We eat more fruits and veggies. We get most of our protein from tofu, beans and legumes. We still eat pork, but seldom. We religiously take multivitamins and Bo Sanchez’ “Morning Power Drink” daily.

Now, we recently discovered Laminine.

It is our conviction that we can only fulfill our life purposes successfully by being physically healthy.

Maintaining Good Physical Health

We can only use our God-given talent effectively and use our time wisely when we are serious about maintaining good physical health.

How can we live a life of purpose if we are chronically overweight, constantly fatigued, weakened by poor nutrition, and working beyond our limitations?

We deceive ourselves by assuming in blind faith that God will directly interfere in maintaining our physical, mental, and emotional well-being, while we exhaust ourselves with too much work, pleasure ourselves with harmful food, and promote idleness by being sedentary.

We further deceive ourselves by rationalizing that these unhealthy habits are crosses that we have to bear for the glory of God, when in fact we unnecessarily create these crosses because of self-centeredness, insecurities, arrogance, and lack of discipline.

Let’s work more on “being” than “doing.” Being like Christ rather than doing things beyond our limitations.
