“Beware the barrenness of a busy life.” –
Socrates
Our world is becoming more and more
competitive.
‘Blank’ got a new PS3, gotta have one, too! ‘Blank’ is now promoted as
manager, gotta get promoted, too! I saw the ‘Blanks’ at Sumo Sam in Facebook,
gotta eat there, too! The ‘Blanks’ are now in Singapore , gotta get there, too!
And because of that, people are becoming more
and more busy.
It’s as if being busy has become a status
symbol: the busier you are, the more important and wealthier you must be.
The problem with busy is that, it never ends.
When we are always busy, life speeds up,
making our senses numb to appreciate its every day simple pleasures.
And as our life speeds up, it’s tempting to
run faster and accomplish more.
To be more of what others expect us to be. Rather than being the way God designed us to
be. Just the way we are.
Pace yourself.
Slow down.
Breathe.
Remember the pleasure of doing – and enjoying – one thing at a time.
After all, you don’t reach worthwhile goals in
a flurry of movement, but through single-minded focus, patience, and a quiet
resolve.
“Often,
people work long hard hours at jobs they hate to earn money to buy things they
don’t need, to impress people they don’t like.” – Nigel Marsh
